KSP Spring Kickoff Practice A glimpse of what is to come could be seen at KSP tonight as the track opened it's gates to racers who wished to get some "shake down" laps in before the show tomorrow! With several of the track regulars on hand as well as cars from as far away as Iowa and Minnesota, tomorrows action promises to be hot Hot HOT!!! Be sure to be there so you don't miss a minute of it!! SO... who was there? Well, Jeremy Montgomery was there with his new HDC Race Cars #11j Hobby Stock! Talk about a good lookin! This new chassis by Matt Drottz is one sweet lookin ride! And judging by his hot laps, it's gonna be fast as well! Charles Cosper was in the mix, settin a mean pace with his #33 Destroyer Chassis! With no plans to points race this season, Charles is ready to "just have fun again"! I look for him to do just that! Jason Brooks had a brand new #99 Hobby Stock out for a few laps. He looked really good in that brand new car! Brandon Taylor had his Bad to the Bone #5 Destroyer ready to take on any and all contenders! With his eyes already lookin toward the Super Nationals at Boone, look for him to push himself and his car to the edge this year as he prepares for his run for the glory at Boone later on this season! There were a couple of Hobbies in the pits all the way from Des Moines Iowa! Yep, turns out that local racer, Jerry Cleghorn has a cousin from up there, Cody Cleghorn, and they decided to dig their way out of the snow and make their way down to Texas for some early season racin! They drug 25 year racing veteran, Donnie Killen along with them! Word is that Donnie has won more Features at Des Moines Speedway than just about anybody! Yall better keep an eye on those boys! They looked to be pretty savvy on the oval! Well, John and Jerry Morris were on hand to shake the dust off of their rides. Their ATI Sponsored hot rods are ready to race! Dan Mackenthun was down all the way from Minnesota! They were lookin forward to the warm temps we have compared to their home state! Then, along came Daniel! Daniel Parker pulled into the pits with his Freshed #3P Bolden Chassis! He hit the track and was a rocket! At east until he picked up some water in his fuel and lost all power! It took a while to figure that out and get the car runnin again, but just before midnight, with the help of a dozen or so willing friends, including Richard and Ricky Snider, they got the car to fire and he blasted out on the track to blow the soot out of 'er! And blow the soot out he did! Word has it that they are runnin a Kevin Sustaire engineered chassis setup and WOW! The rest of the boys had better have their stuff right! That car was quicker than greased lightnin! And it drove thru the corners like it was on rails! Forward bite like he was shot out of a cannon! LETHAL! That's what it was! LETHAL! Street Stocks were in the house! Ryan Powers had a great lookin ride that was fast! Matthew Riechard looked to be bad to the bone as well! Shawn Byrd had a car that you can't miss on the track! Those boys are rowdy and ready to race! Sport Mod action was HOT! Gary Fox hit the dirt in his brand new BMF Chassis built by David Redmond! This is David's first Sport Mod and it is DEADLY! Gary debuted the car at TMS last week and won his first heat race! He started at the back of the 12 car field and cut thru the traffic like they were parked to win that race! Talk about jaws dropping! With a graphics package from Extreme Graphics designed by Missy Shirley that takes skulls and blue flames to a whole new level! That car is bad, Bad, BAD!!! John Riechard had a new Sport Mod entry tonight! His car looked Great and was fast as well. If he carries his success over into this division that he had in the Street Stocks, well, all I can say is... Lookout! HEY YALL! Dean Abbey is back! Yep! He has a Destroyer Chassis that looks GREAT! They said they were still lookin for "just a little bit more", but it looked pretty darn good to me! Great to see this driover back in action. Steven Abbey was in the house as well! He is as smooth as ever and seemed very pleased with his car! He and Brad were just hangin out, checkin out the competition after takin a few hot laps. The look of confidence on this young drivers face belies the threat he will be this season! Let's see, who else was there? OH! Jason Christopher was there in a brand new VATO Chassis by Billy Garza! Great lookin car! David and Danny Ferguson along with along with Keith Martin were all sportin good lookin bright yellow cars! Those boys are fast by reputation! Keep your eye on them! Ronnie Welborn was there with his brand new Rusty Trevathan Chassis Sport Mod! It looked good on the track! I'm anxious to see what it does in competition! George Gafford was shakin his car down. He's another top contender week in and week out! Kyle Nelson is fresh off of a good run at TMS last weekend! This young shoe is startin to shake things up wherever he goes! I look for him to really do well this season! So, how about them Modifieds! WOW! That about sums it up! WOW! This years stable of entries is AWESOME! Kyle Ribinson hit the dirt in a brand new Genesis by Dirt Works car that was wicked fast! They were still shakin it down, but early peeks show it to be super quick! Jeremy Willis was in the house! Still in his car from last season, all I can say is LOOKOUT! This driver has got KSP figured out! Chris Bragg had his Hughes rocket ship in the pits! This is the car he bought to take to Boone and it only has a few races on it! As they get underway this season, I expect Chris to keep that Hughes up front! Toby Hubbard and his Shaw were on hand... that is one bad fast car! Jay Bransom was in a Kraft Car with new Graphics that looked awesome! Matt MArtin was in attendance with a new Red color scheme! Great lookin car and wicked fast, as always! And then we come to the cars "touched" by Bryan Mize of Precision Fabrication and Chassis Tuning! First out of the chute was young hotshoe, Justin Fowler in his Awesome Extreme Graphics design by Missy, "Digital Cammo" #48 BMS Modified! Not only is that color scheme over the top! Justin looks to be BAD FAST in that BMS with Bryan's setup and Kevin Sustaire's mentoring! I can't wait to see how this season goes for him! Michael Martin showed up in a TRE Modified! Not only was it a great lookin car, it was fast on the dirt as well! No Doubt, he will be bad fast this season in this car! Then, last but not least, Kevin Sustaire hit the clay oval in that Venomous TRE Chassis that he campaigned last year! With brand new skins, brand new colors for his graphics and confidence carried over from the win at the Southern Challenge, this car is a real threat wherever it goes! And fast??? He hit the clay and laid down some lightnin quick laps that blistered the air! He found a line around that track that put me to mind of David Murray's run when he visited here last year! Wicked Fast! That TRE under his hand hits Warp Speed! This weekend outta be GOOD! I'll sure be there to see! Will You??
